FORT LAUDERDALE – Hello, I’m April.

With nine games left in the regular season, the Florida Panthers (35-35-3) will wrap up the season by hosting the Ottawa Senators (38-25-10) at Amerant Bank Arena on Tuesday at 7:00 pm ET.

The Panthers, looking to bounce back at home, lost 3-1 to the New York Rangers on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, their third straight loss.

Forward Macky Samoskevic said after the game, “I think we played a balanced game.” “They had chances, we had chances. They only scored one short-handed goal in the final minute of the game.”

This week is packed with games, and after Tuesday’s game, the Panthers will play at home against the Boston Bruins before heading off on their final road trip of the season.

The five-game road trip begins with back-to-back games against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday and Sunday.

To see what’s happening around the Territory this week, read on below.

Tkachuk “On Fire”

What is your goal this year?

Matthew Tkachuk’s hand display got the entire hockey world talking after he scored a close goal in Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders.

“I just gave him a little pump fake and the puck came to me,” Tkachuk said of the goal. “I knew I couldn’t get it to the forehand because of (Scott) Mayfield’s stick. The puck was rolling around a little bit and I didn’t like the angle of the backhand. It might have been a little bit of desperation because the goalie would have made an easy save if I went to the backhand.”

Since the Olympics, Tkachuk has 19 points (9G, 10A) and 49 shots in 16 games.

“His hands are on fire right now,” head coach Paul Maurice said of Tkachuk. “The passes he’s making, the plays he’s making, we’re taking advantage of to kill penalties right now.”
