Media publication Inside Radio (Insideradio.com) reports that some of the top stories Americans were glued to the radio were the Los Angeles fires and Texas floods, the Gaza ceasefire, the Epstein file, the government shutdown, the election of a new pope, and the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
It also includes a Democratic victory in the November 2025 off-year election, followed by tariffs on DOGE and ICE against Venezuela.

Inside Radio also lists some of the top and fastest growing formats that Americans listen to.
“Radio ranks as the most trusted medium among adult women,” the publication states.

When it comes to consumer purchases, more women listen to and trust radio.
A national survey of 600 adults found that 83% of women over the age of 18 said they considered radio to be “very reliable” or “trustworthy.”

This number is higher than any other media. Radio received higher ratings compared to newspapers (79%), television (74%), podcasts (70%), magazines (69%), and social media (48%).
Another format that is gaining more listeners is Contemporary Christian.
Although they aren’t the biggest, figures show their market share has increased over the past three years, particularly among 25-54 and 18-34 year olds.
And it’s not just the music that people are tuning into. Radio stations point out that their listeners also listen to religious teachings. Some stations are branded “Teach and Talk.”
Another radio format that is seeing an increase in listeners is Spanish, according to Inside Radio. At the station where there is a 27.
But if you look at the ratings, you’ll see that NewsTalk radio is the king of where most Americans tune in for overall information.
