FORT LAUDERDALE – Holiday season.
Despite all the injuries, the Florida Panthers still have a lot to enjoy this time of year.
The Panthers, who have a record of 19 wins, 14 losses, and 2 draws, have earned points in eight of their past 10 games and are 7 wins, two losses, and one draw during the period.
They have 40 points and are one point away from making the playoffs with a game remaining against the New Jersey Devils.
The team, whose four-game winning streak ended with a 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday at Amerant Bank Arena, will focus on the Carolina Hurricanes heading into the holiday break.
“Right now it’s all about recovery and regrouping,” Sam Reinhart said after Saturday’s game. “We have another big event before the Christmas break.”
Tuesday’s game in Raleigh, the last game before the NHL’s three-day suspension, is sure to garner a lot of attention after the Panthers came back with three third-period goals just a few days ago (Dec. 19) and ultimately defeated the Hurricanes in a 4-3 shootout.

Marchand 1,000 point ceremony
A milestone to celebrate.
The Panthers announced Monday that they will honor Brad Marchand’s 1,000th point at a pregame ceremony at Amerant Bank Arena before their game against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. ET.
Marchand recorded his 1,000th NHL regular season point with two assists in a 6–3 win over the Washington Capitals on November 13.
Marchand is the 102nd skater in NHL history to reach 1,000 points and the 12th active skater to reach the milestone.
Currently up to 1,020 points, the 37-year-old has amassed 40 points (20G, 20A) in 34 games this season.

do something unusual
Mr. Carter Verhaeghe is completely on fire.
Over the past 13 games, No. 23 has recorded 18 points (9G, 9A), 38 shots and a plus/minus rating of +11.
Since Nov. 24, Verhaeghe’s nine goals rank seventh in the NHL.
“We’re getting around the net,” Verhaeghe said of the success of the line with Marchand and Sam Bennett. “We play with speed. We were pretty close on that breakout. We have a fast line and we get to the net with strong players.”
