Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are known as STEM jobs. Many of them include software developers, engineers, data analysts, and scientists, many of whom earn more than six figures a year in Florida.

AI search and analytics platform Peec AI ((https://peec.ai/) investigated which states offer the highest salaries for STEM careers. Salaries for 76 STEM-related occupations were analyzed and collected by Glassdoor to rank the states that offer the highest salaries for STEM talent.

Florida ranked 16th among states with the highest salaries for STEM careers, with an average annual salary of $105,570. The highest-paying STEM career in the state is anesthesiologist, earning $282,320 annually. Other highest-paying STEM jobs include orthopedic surgeons at $246,733, dentists at $234,423, dermatologists at $220,321, and psychiatrists at $220,284.

The lowest paid STEM job category is Forensic Science Technician, who earns $47,127. The average STEM salary in Florida is 3.4% above the national average of $102,116.

“Florida ranks among the top STEM salaries in the United States, driven by high-paying medical jobs such as orthopedic surgeons and anesthesiologists. The state’s strong healthcare industry and growing technology sector continue to offer some of the most competitive salaries in the nation,” said Malte Landwehr, chief marketing officer of Peec AI.

Across the United States, medical jobs consistently top STEM salary rankings, but emergency medical technicians and laboratory technicians tend to earn the least. As STEM careers evolve, the pay gap between high- and low-paying jobs will play an important role in continued education and specialization.

Other high-paying STEM jobs include cardiologists and software engineers, but although they fall just short of these top earners, emergency medical technicians are the lowest-paying STEM occupations in the state, with an average annual salary of $62,276. The average STEM salary in California is 49.6% above the national average of $102,116.
