DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a home in Deltona where a young man armed with a hunting knife threatened to injure people and kill four children on Sunday.
Body camera footage showed Trevor Nieves Gonzalez walking around near the driveway of the home after refusing to drop the knife he was holding.
VSO said Nieves-Gonzalez’s father placed himself between his son and the first responding deputy to prevent possible gunfire.
Nieves-Gonzalez yelled profanities before throwing the knife away.
VSO said Nieves-Gonzalez spat at the second deputy who responded to the home before both deputies used their Tasers.
VSO said the father was treated for a knife wound to the back of his head before police arrived.
VSO announced that Nieves Gonzalez was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated assault, four counts of child abuse, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.
