Disney renovates Soarin’ attraction ahead of America’s 250th anniversary

Guests at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will soon be able to fly from sea to sparkling sea as the parks renovate fan-favorite attraction Soarin’ in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

The new experience, “Soarin’ Across America,” will highlight America’s natural wonders and iconic urban landscapes through expansive aerial views, the park announced Monday.

Described as a homage to America’s past, present and future, Soarin’ Across America is scheduled to debut at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in the summer of 2026.

Located at Disney California Adventure, Soarin’ lifts guests skyward in front of an immersive 80-foot projection dome for a virtual tour that simulates the motions of flight.

Disney also included actor and film producer Patrick Warburton in Monday’s announcement. In the attraction, Warburton plays a chief flight attendant who gives safety tips to passengers waiting in line.

Disney hasn’t said which U.S. cities will be featured, but Tom Fitzgerald, chief storytelling officer at Walt Disney Imagineering, said the goal is to “give guests a sample of America’s beauty and the incredible diversity of our cities.”

The attraction update is part of the company’s “Disney Celebrating America” celebration, which begins on Veterans Day and ends on July 4, 2026.

The celebration will culminate in a 24-hour, multi-platform broadcast entitled “Disney Celebrates America” over the Fourth of July weekend.

The special will highlight events commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary across Disney’s television networks and streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN, Freeform, FX and National Geographic. The event concludes with an evening fireworks display from Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

David Muir, anchor and editor-in-chief of “World News Tonight with David Muir,” will lead the coverage, and will be joined by anchors and correspondents from ABC News.
