TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida State University football player Ethan Pritchard, who was injured in a shooting, was released from the hospital Thursday.
Pritchard, a freshman linebacker, has been released from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he had been hospitalized since being injured in the Aug. 31 shooting.
He was transferred to Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, where he will begin the next stage of his recovery process.
Regarding his son’s journey, Ethan’s father Earl Pritchard released the following statement:
“Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for my son. The past 39 days have been full of ups and downs, but it’s amazing that Ethan and I were able to leave the hospital together today. I would especially like to thank Dr. Albert Lea and his team, the ECMO team, and the nurses on the third and fourth floors of TMH for the care and medical expertise they provided to Ethan. Coach Nobel checks in every day and is always present.” He came to visit us here in the hospital and his players and staff continued to make us feel like part of the team. I can’t express enough how much those moments meant to me and Ethan. The Florida State Sports Medicine staff has provided consistent communication and collaboration with the wonderful physicians at TMH.
I cannot say enough about the support we have received from our hometown and all of Seminole County. Coach Carl Calhoun and Seminole High School have built a tremendous support system for me and I really appreciate the culture we are a part of. I would also like to thank Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young and Ethan for their dedication to pursuing justice. I am filled with gratitude from the bottom of my heart for the support of so many people. Ethan has a long journey ahead of him, but I know he will continue to fight and will do so with the full support of his FSU and Seminole County families and all those affected by his story. ”
