Florida deputies push the shoplifter into the wrong house

OVIEDO, Fla. (WFLA) – Misunderstanding has caused Seminole County Councillors to plunge into Lake Mary’s home in search of a suspect on a shoplifting incident.

According to NBC affiliate WESH, misunderstandings occurred between Oviedo police and the sheriff’s office, causing deputies to push them into the wrong house.

The incident began just after 10pm on a Sunday night in June when lawmakers knocked on Victor Gordillo Jr.’s residence.

Deputies told reporters that his wife Jennifer was also inside the house at the time, along with children and relatives who happened to be visiting.

Reporters said the situation escalated quickly and was nervous when deputies asked Gordillo Jr. to go outside. After he refused, the deputies went through the door before closing it.

Gordillo Jr., a 20-year-old Army reserve, had just returned from duties. Deputies then wrestled him to the floor and handcuffed him, Wesh reported.

Reporters said the reason for his arrest came from the incident in Windixie, now closed in Oviedo on June 8, where a shoplifting incident was suspected.

Oviedo police said the manager reviewed the surveillance video after employees said they had observed the man entering the frozen food section, grabbing four bags of shrimp each worth $30 and leaving the store without paying.

Police said the license tag video led to Goldiro Jr.’s father, Victor Washington, Gordiro (70).

The lawmakers realized their mistake almost 30 minutes after Gordillo Jr.’s arrest, and he was taken to the hospital to paramedics for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said several deputies involved in the incident were responsibly and received a chain of treatment.

Reporters said the family’s attorneys intend to suspend both in federal and circuit courts, and the state Attorney’s Office refused to prosecute a suspected shoplifting suit against Gordillo Jr.’s father.
