FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WFLA) — The U.S. Coast Guard loaded roughly $94.5 million in cocaine and marijuana in the Port Everglades on Tuesday with more than 12,750 pounds of cocaine and marijuana.
According to the USCG, Cutter Seneca crews were deployed to support Operation Pacific Viper and worked with interagency partners to stop illegal drugs in international waters.
“I am extremely proud of the teamwork and adaptability that has been shown by my crew and partners during this patrol. “Our crews are sacrificing their time away from their families and doing harm to secure our borders and protecting Americans when necessary.”
Since launching business in August, the Coast Guard has intervened with more than 80,000 pounds of cocaine.
In addition to the drug seizure, 29 smugglers have been transferred to federal custody, the USCG said.
