TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida is now one step closer to becoming the home of President Trump’s future libraries.
The Florida Cabinet gave Miami-Dade College a green light to place Trump’s future presidential library land.
There were several pushbacks while Florida Republicans deployed welcome mats for the president. Not only are those protesting in Miami, but Democrats from the Capitol.
Tuesday’s vote comes after the Miami-Dade College Board approved the land transfer and the state has been able to manage what is currently being used as a parking lot for employees.
The nearly three acres of property is located right next to the historic Freedom Tower, a treasured treasure of the city’s immigrant community.

“It’s iconic in so many different ways, like being near Freedom Tower,” said Chief Financial Officer Blaze Ingoglia.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General James Usmier, Ingoglia and AG Commissioner Wilton Simpson shared their support to honor Trump.
“President Trump has a great story to tell, and as a Florida resident, I think it’s very fitting for us to house it,” Usmier said.
State lawmakers began this discussion last session when they passed SB 118, a bill that eliminated the capacity of local governments to oversee the construction of presidential libraries.
Democrats had concerns, but that has only continued to happen now.
“I don’t care who the president is. I think we put counties and cities and people who lead them to those areas in very unfortunate circumstances when residents go to them and ask them.
Jones calls the move political and emphasizes the importance of having public opinion on such major moves.
“It’s Hogwash. People don’t like the fact that President Trump is standing up violently for the American people, they’re just trying to push back. It’s political and don’t have a library in Florida,” Ingoglier said.
Trump still has to attract which states want to go to his library, and if he chooses Florida, it would be the first presidential library ever to be housed in the state.
