Centre Hill, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampaman, 62, died Thursday after authorities said they could not escape from the car after a violent crash in Sumter County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 4:30am at the intersection of CR-48 and SR-471.

Two hunters, two dogs, were found dead in apparent lightning strikes in Highland County, deputies say

The 62-year-old was moving west on a CR-48 in a dump truck filled with sand.

Once he reached the intersection, the dump truck driver turned wide right onto the SR-471 and crossed the furniture truck path between the rooms, officials said.

Authorities say a Lakeland man escaped from his car with minor injuries. However, officials said the Tampa driver was unable to do so and died at the scene.

No further information was available immediately.
