Back in the past few years, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Dataritory Analysis Reporting System (FARS) ranks road segments across the country by the number of fatal crashes per mile.

Information reveals that Florida is home to the country’s most dangerous roads.

Manatee County’s 14th Street West tops the national list with a fatal crash of 6.75 per mile between 2019 and 2023.

Duval County State Highway 103 is second in Florida, with 2.92 crashes per mile, and Miami-Dade County’s State Highway 817 continues closely with 2.89 crashes per mile.

Florida’s Most Dangerous Roads (2019–2023)

14th Street West (Manatee County): Ranked No. 1 and No. 1 in Florida nationally, with 21 fatal crashes in just 3.11 miles, with a percentage of 6.75 crashes per mile. Also involved 16 pedestrians, highlighting the serious risks of people on foot.

State Highway 103 (Duval County): No. 26th in the nation, No. 2 in Florida, with 12 fatal crashes in 4.10 miles.

State Highway 817 (Miami-Dade County): Ranked 27th in the nation, with 45 fatal crashes on a 15.58-mile stretch.

US Highway 1 (Brevard County): Ranked 40th in the nation with 14 fatal crashes at 5.48 miles

US Highway 19 (Pasco County): No. 51 in the nation, with 47 fatal crashes over 19.65 miles

Bee Ridge Road (Sarasota County): No. 54th nationwide, with 11 fatal crashes at 4.68 miles

US Highway 19 North (Pinellas County): Ranked 55th in the nation with 25 fatal crashes over 10.71 miles

North Spine Hills Road (Orange County): No. 56th nationwide, with 10 fatal crashes at 4.29 miles

US Highway 41 (Manatee County): No. 57th nationwide, with 13 fatal crashes in 5.60 miles

US Highway 19 (Pasco County): No. 63 in the nation, with 44 fatal crashes over 19.64 miles
