Florida launches online portal to report politically motivated violence

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida officials have released a new online reporting tool aimed at helping residents flag the threat of politically motivated violence.

Florida Attorney General James Usmieire and Education Commissioner Anastasios Camoutes announced the launch of the Combat Violent Extremism Portal during an event at the University of Valencia. The secure portal allows citizens to submit screenshots, videos and other evidence of the militant threat directly to the prosecutor’s offices across the state. Submissions may be submitted anonymously.

“This portal is to enable Floridians to play a direct role in preventing political violence,” Usmeyer said. “In Florida, the threat of political violence is unacceptable. The idea that someone will be assassinated due to a peacefully opposed radical ideal is sleazy and anti-American.”

Statewide prosecutor Brad McVay stressed that individuals pose illegal threats will be charged. “We look forward to working closely with our law enforcement partners to protect Florida’s free state from political violence,” McVay said.

Commissioner Kamoutsas said the initiative will also increase accountability at Florida schools. “Educators who make sleazy and sleazy comments that celebrate and encourage violence in schools are investigated and accountable,” he said.

The launch comes amid growing national concern over politically motivated attacks. Federal data shows that assaults on federal officials, including immigrants and customs enforcement agents, have skyrocketed by more than 1,000% over the past year. The announcement follows the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk has attracted widespread attention after online threats circulating on social media and celebrations of his death.

The state leader said the new portal is part of Florida’s broader efforts to prevent violence before it happens. Officials stressed that the system is not intended for emergencies. Residents facing immediate danger must call 911.

The Combat Violent Extremist Portal is currently live and can be accessed at myfloridalegal.com/cve.
