Panama City Beach, Fla. (WMBB) – The home that became the viral image of the tornado last January 9th may disappear.

Construction crews have fences around the Gulf Drive home, with houses on both sides.

An EF-3 tornado lifted the house from the base and placed it behind it, sandwiched between the houses on either side of it.

James Sturgeon, owner of the sloping House, told WMBB previously he had begun planning to quickly clean up the shards, secure property and destroy the house.

However, when he did not act quickly enough, the neighbors worried about his home and took legal action.

Starting in June 2024, the court has set many demolition deadlines. As the initial deadline approached, the sturgeon lawyer asked the judge for an extension.

Then another, another, and another.

Then, on August 15th, the judge had apparently enough to have sturgeons and ordered them to pay $1,000 a day before the crew defeated the house.

The judge also laid out a new timetable and signed the dismantling agreement to secure a dismantling permission to sign the dismantling agreement with the owner until August 27th, and completed the dismantling on October 31st.

On Tuesday, a person from one of the companies involved said he will start early next week.

Property owners on either side of the sturgeon house still don’t know exactly how much work the home needs to repair or even if it can be rescued.
