A new documentary produced by YouTube Channel Real Science explores the negative impact of Burmese pythons on the Florida Everglades. Over the past 35 years, invasive species have spread across federal protected lands, creating annual Python hunting seasons and other methods of eradication.

Since their establishment, small and medium-sized mammals have almost completely disappeared across the wide area of the Everglades. For these native animals, the apocalypse came in the form of the endless appetite of giant snakes. For years, Pisons have been hidden by dense vegetation and spread unsurprisingly.
