DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) – Two teens have been arrested after breaking into a Florida elementary school and being accused of causing more than $50,000 in damages.

The Volsia County Sheriff’s Office said the 12- and 13-year-olds shattered glass doors at Friendship Elementary School in Deltona and destroyed the media center on Saturday.

The boys returned to school later that day to “see the damage and cause more.”
According to VCSO.

The Sheriff’s Office posted a photo on Facebook of the two suspects wearing masks on Sunday. In an update Monday, the sheriff’s office said the children were identified after the mother was called the agency.

According to the VCSO, the suspects confessed to the crime, and each boy was charged with two robberies, trespassing on two count school grounds, criminal mischief and theft.

Body camera footage released by VCSO showed deputies arriving at the media center with alarms on the sound. The cart and table fell, with books and other supplies scattered around the room. Black paint was placed on the walls and the bathroom was destroyed.
