TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center said it is likely that tropical depression will form in the Atlantic Ocean within the next week.
Tropical waves coming out of African coasts offshore create chaotic showers and thunderstorms as they move west at 10-15 mph.
Dry air is expected to limit the likelihood of development over the next few days, but the chances of formation over the next seven days are high, currently around 70%.
“The positive is that the different models, the Euro, the US and Euro AI, are all mounted on the Northern Caribbean Sea, generally maintaining this over the Atlantic,” said WFLA meteorologist Juliana Mezia. “And that’s what we usually see during September.”
