ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – A 70-year-old Florida woman had to bite a pit bull in a desperate attempt to save a dog while attacking outside a grocery store.

A video shared with NBC affiliate WESH showed Sparky, the 14-year-old dog of Shirley Pasamanik, who was suddenly attacked by a pit bull on September 1st.

“It was out of nowhere, unprovoked, fixed on us. And I did everything I could, we ended up on the ground,” Pasamanik told the news station.

The video shows Pasamanic fighting to protect his dog with his cane. She even tried to loosen the pitbull’s chin with her naked hands.

“I couldn’t open his mouth. I’m a 90-pound 70-year-old woman. Do you know what I mean? So… I bit him, at the back of my neck,” Pasamanik said. “I bit him. I had to! I’m 91 pounds! I have no strength!”

Soon after that, a man Pasamanik said his deputies were trying to track down appears and yanks the dog.

“He paused for a moment. He thought he was back to us. I heard someone in the back say, ‘I got him. I got him.’ I said. I didn’t see the man.

Sparky is still shaken from the attack, twitching a bit and acting defensively, Wesh reported.

“Really, he’s the reason why I wake up there. I have to walk him. I have to take care of him. I give them a reason to stand up when they get mad or depressed or feel something. You have to take care of your dog,” Pasamanic said.
