Below is the official statement from Florida Attorney General James Usmieyer regarding traffickers sentenced to prison.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gen. James Usmier announced that Sky Skidmore was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the Florida Department of Corrections and then on 10 years of sex offender probation for human trafficking and related crimes. Skidmore was also designated a sex offender.

“Human trafficking and child exploitation are one of the most heinous crimes you can imagine,” Attorney General James Usmier said. “The predator stole his innocence and silences his victims. The sentence secured by prosecutor Guillermo Vallejo, the statewide prosecutor, ensures that he will never have the opportunity to hurt his child again.”

Skidmore pleaded guilty to human trafficking due to commercial sexual activity, obscene or lewd battery, promoted sexual performance by children, altered victims, and committed felony using two-way devices.

In 2023, investigators discovered that Skidmore was exploiting minors for commercial sex. He used a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook and Snapchat to communicate with the victim, force her to commit indecent behavior.

Evidence has been shown that Skidmore sexually abused the victim, promoted the production of child sexual performance material, and later attempted to intimidate and tamper with the victim during an ongoing lawsuit.

The investigation was a joint effort by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the Wakula County Sheriff’s Office, the Tallahassee Police Department and the statewide prosecutor’s office.
