Walton County, Fla. (WMBB) — A Defuniak Springs man was arrested Sunday after being allegedly threatened his family with a machete while robbing.

Deputies responded to an ongoing robbery call at Defuniak Springs, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

WCSO said that when deputies arrived, he encountered 29-year-old Logan Lavern McVay carrying a machete. They were able to secure their weapons without getting injured.

The lawmakers discovered that McVay allegedly entered a neighbor’s shed without permission to request electronics.

WCSO said McVay was allegedly offensive when confronted with the owner, throwing the object that was attacked by the victim, threatening the victim and his family.

The victim was trapped in a real estate vehicle, but McVay continued to intimidate and waving a machete that damaged nearby property.

McVay was taken to the Walton County Jail and was given $21,000 in bonds. He is charged with aggravated assault, battery, false imprisonment, robbery, obstruction and utility theft.
