Broward County, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida caretakers have been accused of stealing a patient’s home and spending almost all of his life savings on a gorgeous international trip.
The Broward County Real Estate Appraiser’s Office and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said Lillian Morris is a home health professional hired to serve as a caregiver for the victim after admission.
The victim’s family began to worry when Morris began staying at home overnight, and said she was at home when she wasn’t planning on working.

The family reported concerns to the company where Morris worked after adding himself as a joint account owner for the victim’s bank account. She was fired from her own standpoint.
Investigators for facility appraisers said they discovered that Morris used his position to manipulate the victim. They said she got a durable power of attorney that was allegedly signed by the victim.
Over the course of two and a half years, Morris gained full access to the victims’ finances and used almost every life savings to take advantage of a luxurious international trip to Amsterdam, Greece, Mexico and Africa, investigators said.
She is also suspected of withdrawing $80,000 from the victim’s bank account and purchasing two CDs.
Officials said Morris also moved to the victim’s house, rented one of the bedrooms, and kept his rental income to himself.
Investigators also said they discovered that Morris recorded a smoking ban deed to transfer ownership of the victim’s plantation to himself. The home is valued at around $1.1 million.
Morris was arrested and charged with planning for exploitation and fraud of the elderly.
