Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced the state’s support for the Fentanyl Elimination (Safety) Grant Program, which provides more resources for law enforcement, increases takedowns for human traffickers, and leads to record-breaking fentanyl attacks.
“It was great to be in Orlando this morning to highlight the results the Safe Program has provided across Florida. Over the past two years, the impact is clear. Safety will boost law enforcement resources, defeat cartel operations, and promote record-breaking attacks of fentanyl and other deadly drugs,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said. “We recommend additional safe funding this year. Congress needs to fully fund this important program that saves lives every day.”
In 2023, the Safety Grants Program was established to provide funding for law enforcement to implement large-scale drug operations across the state. The state-funded initiative has enabled local law enforcement to fight drug trafficking and remove hundreds of pounds of dangerous drugs from Florida communities.
According to an official statement from the Desantis Gov. Desantis office, 200 approved and safe investigations resulted in 2,127 arrests and 485 pounds of fentanyl seizures, with over 63,000 fentanyl tablets.
