Cape Coral, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida man who helped catch a robber while wearing Batman pajamas spoke about the incident.
On August 27, officers from Cape Coral Police Station responded to an ongoing robbery at home around 2:03am.
At the scene, they discovered that the suspect was already captured by a man wearing a Batman pajama, Kyle Miebet, a contractor during the day and a hero at night.
Myvett told reporters he was in bed when his security cameras notified him of anyone trying to break into his truck. After going outside to investigate, Myvett spotted the suspect, Justin Schimpl, 20, and entered the neighbor’s garage.
“I grabbed their shirts and their right wrists, and I told him, I said, listen, don’t try to get away,” Myvett said.
According to NBC affiliate WBBH, Myvett said that Cape Coral neighborhoods are generally fairly safe so they can leave the truck unlocked and suspects can steal $800 worth of belongings from him and his neighbors.
The Cape Coral Police Department arrested Simple and said he stole multiple items including two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a wristlet and a gift card worth over $500.
When asked about his sleepwear choice, Mybet replied, “Because he doesn’t have Superman Pajamas, if he’s impermeable and invincible, you’re really not brave.”
