Today, the James Madison Institute (JMI) released a new report examining Florida’s two-year journey as a national model for election integrity, transparency and accessibility.
JMI records a presidential election dating back to the 2000 presidential election, detailing how Florida changed almost every aspect of the election process.
Following Florida’s efforts after the 2000 election, JMI points out how legislative efforts and administrative reforms have shown how states implemented changes aimed at ensuring voters are safe, accurate and transparent.
Important reforms include:
• Statewide Voter Registration Database for Real-Time Accurate Voter Roles
• Strict photo ID requirements and signature verification in voting
Insurance voting intake station with daily monitoring
• Real-time reporting of total votes provides greater transparency
• Creating an election crime office to investigate fraud and fraudulent activities
JMI describes Florida as the “gold standard” for the reforms adopted by the state, providing accurate and timely results in both 2020 and 2024 elections, all with voter turnout.
