ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – The mother of a boy who was attacked by a drone who fell on a holiday show in Orlando has filed a lawsuit alleging that the negligence of the city and the drone operator left his son “trauma and permanent injuries.”
Videos shot by people in the crowd showed the drone piercing through the air during the 2024 show at Lake Eora. Dozens of two-pound drones then collided and crashed into the crowd.

One of the drones attacked Alezander Edgerton, according to a report by NBC affiliate Wesh. Edgerton’s mother said the drone had damaged one of his heart valves and attacked him with enough strength to have to undergo heart surgery.
“The blade cut his mouth, but there are actual traces of the drone on his chest,” she told Wesh after the incident.
Orlando has signed up for SkyElement, a Texas-based company that holds events nationwide, organizing the displays of synchronous drones and creating holiday themed designs in the sky.
The lawsuit alleges that multiple drones malfunctioned and were out of a coordinated flight path. NTSB investigators previously said they discovered technical issues during the preparation of the prefilite, according to a preliminary report obtained by WESH.
The City of Orlando, Sky Elements and drone manufacturers are all appointed defendants in the lawsuit. The boy’s family is suing them for negligence.
An Orlando City spokesman told WESH on Wednesday it has not yet been offered.
Sky Elements provided the following statement regarding the lawsuit:
“We are aware of the submission. As this is an ongoing legal issue, we cannot comment further at this time.”
