Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) – In a study of all 50 states, Florida was the only state in the southeastern United States to create a list of Wallethub’s best and best states.

This study compared 51 different livability factors, including housing affordability, unemployment rate, public school quality, and safety.

Florida ranked sixth overall and was the highest-ranked state in the Southeast. The only state in the region to beat the top 20 was Virginia, ranked 14th.

According to a Wallethub survey, the sunshine condition is particularly suitable for foodies. Florida is linked to New York and California as the state with the most per capita restaurants.

Florida is also ranked third in median household income growth from 2019 to 2023, and ranked 11th in the economy overall.

When considering the general quality of life, Florida came fourth only beaten by California, New York and Illinois. This category measured average time per week, miles of trails for walking and cycling, traffic jams, the number of theaters, museums and restaurants per person, and more.

I’ve found that many of the states surrounding Florida are heading towards the bottom of the list. Georgia was 27th, South Carolina was 44th, and Alabama was 41st.

According to Wallethub, the top three states are Massachusetts, Idaho and New Jersey.
