Top 10 Most Searched Dog Breeds in America
Golden Retriever is the most searched variety in all states except Utah. California residents show the most interest, searching 136,772 monthly varieties, the best amount of any variety in any state. Following 97,558 searches, Florida concluded the top three states with a monthly search of 83,569 for Golden Retrievers.
Utah is the only state led by Bernese Mountain Dog, with 10,010 searches per month. Golden Retriever continues closely at 9,975.
This study revealed some surprising findings on traditionally popular varieties. Labrador retrievers are often cited as the most popular breed in America by registered organizations and ranked 27th in 239,182 searches per month. The Beagles ranked 59th in 140,765 searches per month.
Tom Sadler, managing director of PET Insurance Deals, commented on the findings.
“During our research, we revealed a fun fact: Golden retrievers, often considered “American dogs,” actually represent the American way of life that was born from Scotland, UK.
“In fact, the only dog breed in the top 10 that begins in the US is Australian shepherds. Despite their name, they were kept by ranchers in western states such as California and Colorado in the 1800s.
“It’s easy to see why Golden Retrievers put this research to the top: their friendly temperament, intelligence and adaptability make them an ideal family member.
