Duval County is one of eight Florida counties with more Democrats than registered Republicans.
The current number is 249,447 registered Democrats with 239,647 GOPs.
Since the new team was selected last December, Duval County GOP has grown its presence in voter registration.
“The Republicans in Duval County continue to create new Republicans in the city. With expert training teams, voter outreach and community involvement, we are filling the gap.”
Since January, Barr says volunteers from local GOP clubs have been more involved with the community’s angels.
“We don’t just talk, we put our boots on the ground and hear what these groups have to say,” Barr said.
The ever-growing margin of Florida registering new voters on the Republican side is showing up in Jacksonville.
Since December 2024, when the new leader took over the local Duval Republican Executive Committee, the club has registered more than 2,000 new Republicans.

The mayor’s office went to Democrats from the GOP in 2023, but the local GOP club elected more Republicans to Jacksonville City Council, where they enjoy a majority, and there are more GOP constitutional officers in the county.
The latest voter role reveals a trend that Democrats have a grasp of areas that have been in control for a while.
One example is Miami-Dade County.
Gov. Ron DeSantis won his re-elect bid in 2022. President Trump didn’t avoid that in 2024, but now the county has flipped from Democrats to Republicans, holding a 34% to 32% lead there.
Duval’s GOP Chairman Charles Barr says his next goal is to prepare for the 2026 gubernatorial election and the 2027 city election.
