TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tropical Storm Dexter will strengthen as the National Hurricane Center moves east-northeast to monitor two obstructions in the Atlantic.
Tropical Storm Dexter
At 5am, Dexter was located about 405 miles south-southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
According to the NHC, Dexter will travel east-northeast at around 13 mph in a few days, so it is expected to increase forward speeds in the coming days.
The maximum sustained wind increases to approximately 45 mph as the gusts increase.
Dexter is expected to be strengthened in the next 48 hours as the system becomes the cyclone of the era.
At this time there are no coastal clocks or warnings.
Southeastern United States
Located hundreds of miles off the coast of the southeastern US, low-pressure areas bring showers and thunderstorms.
As environmental conditions generally appear to be favorable for additional development, interference is expected to occur over the next few days.
Tropical depression could occur later this week or this weekend, as the low pressure area drifts westward before the low pressure area gradually turns northward or northeastward by the weekend.
The chances of formation in the next 48 hours are 10%, but the chances of development in the next 7 days are 40%.
Central Tropical Atlantic Ocean
According to the NHC, tropical waves over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean create disrupted showers and thunderstorms.
Environmental conditions are expected to support progressive development over the next few days.
Tropical depression may form later this week or weekend as the system moves west-northwest across the central tropical or subtropical Atlantic.
The chances of formation in the next 48 hours are 10%, but the chances of development over the next 7 days are 50%.
