MIDDLEBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – The 14-year-old was taken into custody Monday morning after killing his parents, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to Sheriff Michelle Cook, the 911 operator received a call shortly after midnight from a young man who said he had just killed his parents.

The 14-year-old said that deputies could find their parents at home and he would walk a little to the church where he would wait for them.

Lawmakers responded to both locations where the 14-year-old child was detained.

When deputies responded to the house they found the two dead, David Lee, 44, and Brandi Smith, 45, said sheriff.

Sheriff Cook said there appears to be a debate between the teenager and his parents based on the preliminary investigation.
