MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – A third camper van on a yacht struck by a barge in Biscayne Bay died Sunday, officials said.
NBC affiliate WTVJ reported that the US Coast Guard confirmed that there was a 10-year-old girl at Jackson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family when she passed away.
Former Bal Harbor Mayor Gabriel Grossman confirmed the death of his cousin, 10-year-old Ariel Buchman in a previous Twitter post.
This shows the third death in a collision involving six people, five girls and a 19-year-old child on a yacht when he was attacked by a barge near Miami.
Two other girls, 13-year-old Erin Victoria Koh and 7-year-old Mira Jankelevich, are also the granddaughters of an Argentine television producer, who were killed in a boat crash.
They were in the final week of a sailing camp held for children aged 7-15 years.
The Miami-Dade medical inspector’s office told reporters it was determined that both girls were killed by accidental drows.
According to WTVJ, another 8-year-old girl was hospitalized in a dangerous condition, but her current condition is unknown.
A 19-year-old woman and a 12-year-old woman were also rescued, but were not injured.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
