(Nexstar) – Starbucks plans to phase out all “pickup” locations in 2026, CEO Brian Nicole announced in the company’s latest revenue call.

“We found this format to be overly transactional and lack the warmth and human connection that defines our brand,” Nicole said of the store aimed to simplify the orders for Mobile Togo. “We have a strong digital product and we believe we can provide the same level of convenience through our community coffee houses.

The location of “Pickup” debuted in 2019. First, I was at Penn Station in New York City. At the time, customers were instructed to place an order via the Starbucks app before they arrived at the nearest pickup location.

“When your status board is ready, grab the items and have fun,” Starbucks says.

According to the official Starbucks website, there are currently more than 90 locations in 23 states. Starbucks representatives confirmed that some people were converted to more traditional Starbucks locations, with seats available and others closed.

There are two pickup locations in Florida. One is located in Azalea Hall at Florida State University, and the other is located in Miami on Northeast Three Streets and Biscayne Boulevard.

Other locations are available on the Starbucks website.

Meanwhile, mobile orders are currently available at most Starbucks locations, making them key to Starbucks agenda and accounting for 31% of transactions.

During a revenue call on Thursday, Nicole also repeatedly promoted improvements to mobile orders, reiterating that the company has brought “orders to mobile orders” during its CEO.

Starbucks representatives say further strengthening of this process is planned for 2026.
