ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – A boy died Wednesday in an injury caused by an Ormond Beach dog.

According to a VCSO social media post, deputies for the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office were called to their home in the 1700 block of Carolina Avenue just before 10pm.

The dog was found in the bedroom next to a fatal 5-month-old toddler.

VCSO said the baby’s parents looked after the family prior to the incident. They returned home and rushed the baby to the hospital, where he died.

“Sitwood Sheriff and the entire Sheriff’s Office express sincere pathetic dol to the families of young victims who lost their lives in these tragic circumstances,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.

The 130-pound dog called the Husky/Great Dane Mix was handed over to Volsia County Animal Services.

The Sheriff’s Office is expected to provide more information at its press conference Wednesday morning. It will be streamed live on the video player above.
