MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman caught trying to smuggle a turtle through airport security by stuffing her bra.
According to a TSA social media post, Miami International Airport’s Transportation Administration (TSA) staff have stopped the woman.
One of the turtles died during the incident. The surviving turtle was handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee (FWC).
“We want you to be able to travel with your pets, and you can turtle light, but travel safely with them,” the TSA social media post read. “You can start by reaching out to the airline regarding pet rules on board flights.”
Small pets are permitted through TSA checkpoints, but have been removed from the carrier and must be carried through the checkpoints.
“I said it was “carrying,” not “it was hidden under your clothes,” the TSA wrote.
