Former Florida representatives enter the race to replace Ingoglia’s former Senate seat

INVERNESS, Fla. (WFLA) – Former state MP Ralph Maslo has competed to fill the now-broken state Senate seats after Blaze Ingoglia was appointed Chief Financial Officer. District 11 covers Citrus, Hernando and Sumter counties.

This is not the first time Masro has turned his eyes to a Senate seat. In 2022 he ended his bid after Gov. Ron DeSantis supported Ingoglia. The seats were open again, so Masro threw his hat into the ring.

“We are emphasizing workforce and career development. We are trying to incorporate AI into many of the services our state is calling for, and incorporate it into our workforce and education to improve healthcare,” says Massullo.

Masro also said he would like to focus on improving the environment along with agriculture.

Maslo, a dermatologist, is supporting him with official approval from Florida Attorney General James Usmieire through a post from X and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m extremely happy. I’m a small business owner. I’ve been working for the Chamber of Commerce for many years,” Masro said.

This week, Governor Desantis issued an executive order on September 30th calling for a special primary election. So far, the Democrats have not participated in the race. However, if that happens, the two sides will face off on December 9th. The candidates will be qualifying on August 4th and August 5th. Voters then officially know who will appear in the special primary vote.

“I ask all of your viewers to look into the various candidates running, especially those running in my district, and go out and vote,” Massullo said.

Masro served in the Florida State Legislature from 2016 to 2024. He couldn’t run again to stay on the Capitol due to term restrictions.

A campaign for Republican Anthony Blythe confirmed he will be taking part in the special election race. He already had plans to run for a seat in 2028. But with the vacancy, he will step up his campaign efforts before September.
