HOLLYWOOD BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A shark attack in Hollywood Beach sent one person to the hospital Tuesday, First Response said.

According to NBC 6 South Florida, crews of the Hollywood Fire and Rescue Service were first responded to Ocean Drive in the 4100 block after receiving reports of a man seriously injured.

The naked man is hiding in a tan bed after trying to fire a gym in Florida, deputies say

The man was injured in the upper torso and was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Chai Kaufman, a Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach safety spokesman, later confirmed to NBC 6 that the man was attacked by a shark.

“The report was that he was just in the water and he jumped out of the water and wondered why he was screaming,” Kaufman said.

The lifeguard worked to drive everyone out of the sea after the attack. There were no signs of marine life and after 30 minutes passed, they were allowed to return into the water.

There was no further word on the man’s condition on Tuesday.

This is a developing story. Stay up to date with the latest news on News Channel 8 On-Air and the free WFLA News Channel 8 mobile app on the go.
