LEGOLAND Florida is seeking this world-famous atmosphere for an indoor roller coaster currently under construction at a Winter Haven theme park.
The name of the ride has not been announced yet, but LEGOLAND officials are hoping to open in early 2026. This week, the park released a rendering of the exterior of the building and shared details about the attraction.
“This is one of our more unique attractions in that it doesn’t focus on any particular product,” said Blakevoiter, senior project manager at Merlin Magic Making, the creative arm of the owner Merlin Entertainment Group. He said the project is the most collaborative experience of Parks with the LEGO brand that Parks has ever experienced.
“You will be able to see friends (the line of toys), you will be able to see the Duplo, you will be able to see the city brand that the space (the product) falls into,” Boiter said. “It’s kind of like a melting pot, like a real space port.”
The theme begins with the Legoland Spaceport 885 Launchpad, with the number being a reference to one of the original Lego Space Scooter sets.

The area “focuses on guest journeys, in fact, after you step into the land and then into the building,” Boiter said. “We bring in our core LEGO DNA, play, build, work with our family and bring it to the queue line, which will affect your experience on the coaster.”
Merlin boasts that the new ride, unveiled in March, will be the most technically sophisticated appeal.
“This coaster has some tricks on the sleeves that I’ve never had at Legoland Park, at least in North America,” Boiter said.
The ride vehicle consists of two four-seater units that form an eight-seater train. There is no inversion on the route, but it will be “fast,” Boiter said.
“I think it’s going to be distorted by the older side of our demographic,” he said. “But for our more adventurous younger people, they will have the ability to continue as long as they are OK in a dark, enclosed space.”
Merlin is building the same ride at a Legoland California theme park in Carlsbad, California. The company says it is spending $90 million on the project. The construction site was a former home of a flying school coaster, originally known as the Swamp Thing, during the facility’s Cypress Gardens era.

Also nearby are the themed retailers, the age range of 1-4 years and the “for small astronauts” duplotot spots on Orbit Outpost.
“Lego’s infinite creativity meets the wonders of the universe. It sets new standards for fun and imagination, and offers guests new reasons to visit these destination resorts.”
The coaster building is already completely surrounded by Winter Haven.
“The big focus on the site is getting the ride system, the installation, the truck all the way, and all the wires that make all the mechanics, the brakes, the motors, the launch assembly, all the safety sensors, and all the wires that make all the wiring work,” Voiter said.
“We want to get that vehicle up and running to begin the testing and commissioning phase, and then we’ll continue to focus on finishing the queue,” he said.

Legoland Florida, aiming to be a demographic between the ages of 2 and 12, currently operates three coasters. Both were coaster Auros and Dragon, which debuted in 2004, and Great Lego Race, which opened in 2011.
After four coasters opened at the epic Universe theme park in May, the upcoming LEGOLAND Ride is the only unveiled coaster in Central Florida, still under construction. Universal Studios will be shuttering the Hollywood RIP Rise Rockit in mid-August. Construction is underway near the coaster site, but no alternatives have been identified.
The new Legoland attraction will take part in other space-themed coasters in the area, including Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom, which debuted in 1975, and sister Atlanz Tron Light Cycle/Run, which was mounted on board in 2023.
