Englewood resident, former Rockford Peach, Sue Zaipai, died at 91

Englewood, Fla. (WFLA) – Englewood resident and former Rockford Peach, Supersons Zaipai, has passed away. She was 91 years old and was announced by the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Players Association.

Sue was born in Massachusetts, but has lived in Florida since 1987 with her family.

“Su has founded an American girls baseball organization, which has provided girls and women with the opportunity to play baseball,” Aagbl said in a Facebook post.

According to the AAGPBL, Sue was chairman of the Marshfield, Massachusetts recreational committee and an officer of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Players Association, president of the Placida Harbor Mansion Association in Florida.

According to Aagbl, Sue has three children and six grandchildren.

Sue played professional baseball for “The Rockford Peaches” after graduating from high school and appeared in the 1992 film “A League of Awar.”

According to the AAGPBL, Sue played for Peach in 1953 and 1954.

Sue was a pitcher for Rockford Peaches, second baseman, outfielder and third baseman.
