EX-NFL QB says he’s been suspended from high school coaching to give players benefits

MIAMI (AP) – Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said he has stopped coaching for a former high school team in Miami.

Bridgewater, 32, has made public what Miami North Western High School did against him in a social media post.

“I’m not going anywhere,” said a Bridgewater social media post. “That’s what I mean, after all, I’ll volunteer from the bleachers like I used to, like no one had any issues in 2018 and 2019.”

No messages left to school administrators on Monday were returned.

Last fall, Bridgewater’s first season coached previous schools. He reached the Class 3A State Championship before signing with Detroit in late December, serving as a backup for the Playoff Bound Rions.

Bridgewater wrote in a previous social media post that he paid for players’ rides, meals and treatments last season. This year he sought a donation to cover these costs.

He said in his more recent post he reported those payments to the school.

Bridgewater, who drafted his 32nd draft from Louisville in Minnesota in 2014, appeared in 79 regular season NFL games of 10 seasons divided into Vikings, New Orleans, Carolina, Miami, Denver and Detroit.
