TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — New rules regarding the sale of hemp products came into effect in Florida earlier this year, with the state saying more than 85,000 hemp products that violated those rules have been seized since.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services launched Operation Safe Summer in June. The campaign is called “Hemp Retailers and Manufacturers Enforcement Sweep” aimed at ensuring compliance with the new law.

Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson said tens of thousands of products have been removed from shelves in violation of child protection standards since the operation began three weeks ago.

“Florida does not tolerate the sale of dangerous and illegal hemp products that put children at risk,” Simpson said. “We will continue to enforce the law proactively, hold bad actors accountable and benefit the safety of our Florida families.”

Hemp Law Update:

Commissioned for specific color additives Children must have a certificate of analysis containing lab information, total delta 9 THC concentration, confirm the presence or presence of prohibited substances and pathogens, and marketing and advertising for hemp products for human consumption, enhance the labeling requirements, including home measurements.
