Lucy, Port St. Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman has been arrested after police said she lost a Botox session in a backyard shed, leaving a patient with facial paralysis.

The investigation began in May after the victim reported that she had experienced facial paralysis after being injected in a makeshift backyard med spashed run by 50-year-old Rosamena.

The victim told police that he believes Mena is a “unlicensed medical professional” who runs an illegal medical spa.

The victim said she still experienced paralysis and requested that she support Mena’s medical license and certificate, but Mena never produced them. Instead, investigators said MENA showed the victim “pg blood censored/modified certificate.”

The victim told the detective that she contacted the agency where she issued Mena’s certificate and found out that it had expired in February 2024.

Police said Mena told the victim she was a Dominican Republic doctor to dismiss the victim’s concerns.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for MENA’s property and said they discovered medical beds, vials, fat sculptors, injectable devices for fillers, Botox and more.

MENA was arrested, the battery got worse, causing physical harm, practiced medicine without an aggressive license, committed fraud and used two-way communication devices to promote felony.

“We want to remind the public to investigate facilities and individuals before carrying out the procedures,” the police department posted on Facebook. “And to do negligible steps like Botox, they need to be performed by a licensed expert.”
