SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa Bay weather was whipped between Sunny and Stormy over the holiday weekend, with Sunday in Sarasota no exception.
Several residents saw the towering water spouts bent through the sky against the background of blue sky and bulging white clouds.
What these people were discovering was probably sunny water spouts, one of two types, the other being a tornado water stop.
According to the National Weather Service, it forms in a gentle state, as the name suggests, as the name suggests, and is common from late spring to autumn. They usually form on the dark, flat bases of cumulus clouds. This can be seen in the photo below.
Tornado spouts, on the other hand, resemble tornadoes that form on the land and often appear alongside thunderstorms.
The NWS said it usually doesn’t move much due to mild wind conditions. They tend to dissipate quickly, and often make it not to land in.
