MIAMIDADE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A pediatrician has been charged with the death of his 4-year-old daughter, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.
Dr. Neha Gupta, a 36-year-old pediatrician from Oklahoma City, has been accused of killing her daughter, Alia Tarati in a short-term rental property in El Portal, WSVN reported.

The news station reported that El Portal police officers were called to the home at 156 Northwest 90 Street around 4:30am on June 27 after calling 911 to report the child’s death.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the girl to the hospital where she died.
Authorities told WSVN that Gupta, who shared custody of Aria with her ex-husband, traveled with her children from Oklahoma City to South Florida to stay for a short-term rental.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by WSVN, Gupta alleged that Aria accidentally drowned after leaving her bed and wandering outside in the middle of the night.
WSVN reported that own death was ruled out as the cause of death of the girl after an autopsy revealed that there was no water in the lungs or stomach.
The arrest warrant reportedly showed that the Miami-Dade medical inspector’s office had found signs of trauma on the inside of Aria’s mouth and cheeks that were consistent with choking caused by asphyxiation.
Investigators believe Gupta staged the scene to show her daughter’s death as an accidental drowsing, WSVN reported.
The detective obtained an arrest warrant and traveled to Oklahoma with the help of the former US S-Service to arrest Gupta. She will be handed over to Florida.
