ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested Thursday on charges related to the death of his 18-month-old son, according to the Volsia Sheriff’s Office.

A VSO lawmaker who works with the Ormond Beach Police Department arrested 33-year-old Scott Allen Gardner after his son, Sebastian, said he was “helpless” on June 6th in a hot truck.

During the investigation of the incident, Gardner gave multiple false accounts of the fateful day that occurred.

In a social media post, the VSO said medical personnel estimated Sebastian’s temperature had reached 111 degrees in the vehicle, and reported that OBPD officials tried to revive Sebastian but were unable to do so.

The Ormond Beach police station arrested Gardner and charged him with manslaughter of a child and negligent negligence.
