SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – The family of 22-year-old Maria “Lulu” Martinez is holding a press conference after a recent college graduate was taken into custody at ICE last month.
Martinez came to the Sarasota area with his family from Mexico at the age of 12 and recently graduated with an associate degree in business administration.
Her family said she was moved to a Miami ice jail in Chrome and a Texas facility, and now she can’t visit her.
A press release from the Tampa Bay Immigration Solidarity Network said Martinez was not documented but did not provide specific information about her legal status in the United States.
She was arrested May 21st and booked at the Sarasota County Jail.
