TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Phoenix Echner, a man facing a trial for a Florida State University mass shooting, was “muted” on murder charges Thursday.

Ikner was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Til Chaba and Ricardo Morales and charged with seven counts of murder.

“We won’t stop looking for the truth”: FSU filming survey remains active

In Florida, “standing mute” occurs when the defendant fails to file any type of plea for himself.

So, Ichner’s lawyers filed “not guilty” pleas on his behalf, at each state law. Court records say he waived his right to speedy trial.

Meanwhile, prosecutors are seeking Ichner’s death penalty if convicted.

In an interview with your side 8, state lawyer Jack Campbell said his team has an abbreviation of Ichner’s motivation for the attack, but it’s too early to release them publicly.

“My intention is to get this naked at trial and make everyone in the community and the world understand. As soon as the case is over, I have nothing to hide,” Campbell said. “But I also have to get justice for both the victim and Mr. Ichner.”
