DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Volsia County Sheriff’s deputy resigns in place of firing after being caught riding a motorcycle with a fake tag that read “Chasem3.”

Former Deputy Director Erika Muzie is involved in a series of incidents in Deltona on Saturday night and is being investigated for apparent social media accounts that showed she was performing “reckless stunts on public roads.”

I was with another group of motorcyclists on Wawa on Howland Boulevard, so I came across Mazzy on a Saturday night around 8:51pm. Officials said one of the riders was identified as a motorcyclist who escaped from a traffic stop earlier that night.

The suspect called out to Mazzie when he was in custody, and according to authorities she was “controversial” with a deputy investigating.

The escaped motorcyclist was eventually arrested and taken to prison, deputies said. Muzzy then left the area on the bike.

About two hours later, the aide was pulled onto a bike near the I-4, and had a reversed, invisible tag. Authorities said the rider was a muzzle.

When it turned over, the tag read “Chasem3”.

Muzzy was charged with possession of a counterfeit license plate and was taken to the branch on a $2,500 bond.

She has been a deputy for the Volsia County Sheriff’s Office since 2021. The Sheriff’s Office said an internal investigation into online behavior is ongoing.
