MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida market manager was arrested Thursday for plotting to steal benefits from a food aid program worth more than $275,000, authorities told NBC affiliate WTVJ.

According to arrest warrants obtained by the news agency, Fidelli Osman Mohammad worked as manager of Liberty City’s Seven Star Market and accepted the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP benefits.

Investigators said Ottoman Mohammad used fake checks and forged signatures to bypass around $275,000 in six months from August 2022.

The news station reported that payments were to go to other food markets, but eventually they entered Osman Mohammad’s bank account.

According to arrest reports, Osman Mohammad used the funds to purchase items from Macy’s, JCPenney, Costco, Sam’s Club, Publix and Dollar Tree.

Authorities said she used the funds to pay utility bills and withdraw thousands of people from the ATM.

Records show that she faced first-degree grand larceny charges and was fraudulently charged using identification information. She is booked to prison and is held on a $100,000 bond.
