Another panel of the Disney Springs Art Walk mural is finished and is done by Brett Tachi, an artist born and raised in Orlando.
“We wanted to show you a bit of the history of our family,” Tachi said in a video released by Walt Disney World.
Her artwork is titled “Memento” and features a per tree grown from a rock. The painting is a tribute to the Japanese American heritage and great grandparents who opened a plant nursery in California after moving to the United States in the early 1900s.
“The whole idea of this mural is to find a way to connect with your ancestors and your culture. So I hope they will think about their ancestors and elders and how they can relate to their history wherever they come from,” Tachi said.
The mural is one of several that you can see on the Disney Springs Art Walk. This is an outdoor set of large paintings on continuous displays. Featuring 20 artists, the work is located in the heart of the town of entertainment and retail complexes, between the lime parking lot and the bus loading area.
“It’s a very diverse and incredible collection they have here,” Tachi said.
