Senator confirms another dolphin death at Gulf World Marine Park

PANA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) — State Sen. Jay Trumbull confirmed the death of another dolphin in the Gulf World Marines on Wednesday.

Trumbull posted the news on his Facebook page.

DeSantis signs two bills stemming from the Tampa Bay Animal Cruelty Case

The post claims it is the second dolphin to die in the park since March and fifth since October last year. Trumbull calls it part of a disturbing and unacceptable pattern.

The park also closed unexpectedly and will remain closed until June 3rd.

The problem began in the park at the same time that the first two dolphins died in October. Some animal pool filters stop working and allow algae to grow until the water is thick with green clumps.

The owner’s Dolphin company declared bankruptcy in both Mexico and the US

The court appointed at least one expert to ensure that animals are safe not only in the Gulf World but also in all parks in the dolphin company.

Some sea lions and seals reportedly moved to another facility earlier this month.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and several local agencies all investigate different aspects of park operations.

No one forced their owner to move the animal to a safer facility. But that may change soon.

In Trumbull, Trumbull called on the FWC to “act decisively” and “act immediately, remove the remaining animals and ensure they move to a safe and appropriate environment.”

Trumbull said, “This is no longer about protocols or documents, it’s about doing the right thing. These animals are suffering. The public is watching. And it’s time to act.”

News 13 was called Gulf World, but only recorded.
